I applaud the effort to increase the pilot training pipeline. However, we won't know whether these 7-month-wonders will match their traditional 12 month UPT classmates in proficiency and safety. We'll have to wait 5 years to find out. And by then, we'll have 5 years' worth of them in the pilot pool.

I'm already hearing that they are far from being ready when they arrive at operational units. However ATC mission accomplished, they reduced training time.

I, and many other Army WO's believe you could fix your problems if you could get past your fear of WO's. Look at the retention of Army WO pilots versus USAF Commissioned pilots. Just my 2 cents. I can't help but recalling the USAF seems to go through pilot shortages from time to time there never seems to be a good answer to the problem.
