Ed Asner, a Hollywood legend, died Sunday surrounded by family and friends. He was 91 years old.
“We are sorry to say that our beloved patriarch passed away this morning peacefully,” the actor’s family shared on Twitter. The comments were noted by The Wrap.
His Hollywood career took off after he was cast as Lou Grant in the famous 1970s comedy “Mary Tyler Moore,” opposite late actress Mary Tyler Moore. Additionally, there is a spin-off series titled “Lou Grant.”
Asner, who was previously the President of the Screen Actors Guild, is the most-awarded male performer in Emmy history, with seven victories, Deadline magazine reported.
