SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth It is difficult to watch presentations. Watching the goings on at Shanksville today - some nuggets of clarity seem worth sharing:

"It was the first battle we won in a war on terrorism."
Yes. Perhaps it was our nation's declaration of war on terrorism - by vote of civilians the way declarations of war are always supposed to originate (ordinarily by Congressional debate).

"Devotion to duty by first responders."
The folks on the ground did an exemplary job of it. So too the unseen, unrecognized huge staff of people who managed to present a semblance of order, peace and calm through out the ordeal - including news reporters for the most part who also rose to the occasion. Most other folks were first responders with prayers of mercy and compassion - including people in other nations.

"Are we worthy of their sacrifice?" . . .

"E plubus unum"
Absolutely. Everyone, no matter their walk in life, allows their patriotism to rise to the top when that is what is most needed.

Whether we liked Bush as president or not I am grateful he was our president on that day in our history. Amen to his comment about individuals who are foreign and domestic enemies: "children of the same foul spirit"

Now watching the memorial gathering in lower Manhattan, unfortunately tarnished by the presence of the Clintons. Hard to watch as the names of the victims are read.
