It really is, being so close we kind of take it for granted but since Vicki loves manatees we still hit it a few times during the season.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen I will never forget seeing the Manatees somewhere North of Port San Lucie and their sluggish behavior.

When I was stationed here we lived on the water and they would swim around our dock and up and down the canal. Our kids fell in love with them, then got "A"s on science reports about them after we moved to North Dakota where most had never heard of a manatee.
