I believe that we need to make it clear to the President of Mexico, as well as the people of Mexico, that we are about to take military action against the cartels. This “war” is not against the people of Mexico, but it is targeted action against the very core and infrastructure of the drug cartels. No boots on the ground --- but we do have a unique way of reaching out to touch the cartels without putting a single soldier in harm’s way!
Reaper MQ9 Drones … Just ask Qasem Soleimani if they are effective. Wait, cancel that! He is no longer able to address that question.

Old, but relevant 2014 article. Colombia used military forces against drug cartels, but it was not 100% successful. While crime partly went down, police abuse cases went up and other drug cartels filled power vacuum.

Drones with Hellfire send a different message when you lose/die and there is no one to shoot back at!

Too much money being made to end this. We lost the war on drugs long ago. Address the problems related to drug abuse, not the source of the drugs. Stop the cartels and someone else will step up.
Drug addiction is an illness. Treat the cause not the results.

That is the other end of the spectrum but until the source of supply is turned off and eradicated no amount of treatment is going to prevent the junkies from poisoning themselves. Who ever steps up also gets a Hellfire in their sleeping quarters until they decide it’s just not worth it. Speak softly but carry a Reaper drone.,

LTC Marc King - We humans has been trying to stop alcohol and drug abuse since the beginning of civilized society. It has always failed. Just too damn much money involved. There will always be someone willing to take thew chance.
