Some people just aren't ready for that, Brother Marcus, and never will be. Thank goodness they didn't re-up. Semper Fi Bro. The guys on both sides of me were drafted into the Marines in 1966 at the Induction Center

I had an uncle who was a gunny with nearly 30 years in who lived in Oceanside near Camp Pendleton. We used to go down from Pasadena and visit periodically. He told me if I was thinking about joining the Corps that I shouldn't. He was an ordnance type who became a GS-13 almost immediately after he retired . . .

My dad was a Marine in Korea, he told me the same thing. Don't go in the Corps. So, naturally, I did.
