APOD: 2024 October 15 – Animation: Comet Tsuchinshan ATLAS Tails Prediction

Good evening, Rallypoint, and welcome to the October 15th edition of Astronomy PIcture of the Day (APOD). This 26-second animation shows the orbit of Comet A3 Tsuchinshan/ATLAS as it takes its turn around the Sun. You can see the comet in the western sky (weather permitting; it was cloudy for me tonight) about an hour after sunset.
