Good morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the October 6th edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD). We saw 'Not a Comet' yesterday...to paraphrase Crocodile Dundee, "Now that's a comet!" This image from the APOD 2007 is from Australia and features Comet McNaught. Will Comet A3 give us a similar show in the Northern Hemisphere? We'll see next week. Cheers.

What an absolutely amazing image of the Comet McNaught, the Great Comet of 2007, which grew a spectacularly long and filamentary tail. As it was seen best in the Southern Hemisphere, it is images such as this that provide us the pictorial understanding of what beautiful universe we are part of!
