Despite its importance for mathematics, the neuronal basis of the number zero in the human brain was previously unknown. Researchers from the University Hospital Bonn (UKB), the University of Bonn and the University of Tübingen have now discovered that individual nerve cells in the medial temporal lobe recognize zero as a numerical value and not as a separate category "nothing". The results have now been published in the journal "Current Biology".

Bank accounts with zero= nothing, for primitive man zero on the food = nothing. It may be evolutionary but not revolutionary.

I once showed my son. The number one divided by infinity equals question mark. He responded "zero" without hesitation. It took me a few days to get over the shock of how quickly he recognized that.

CPT Jack Durish Obviously he listed to his teacher when they told him zero divided by anything is still zero. If you don't have anything to begin with it can't be split up!
