Gateyway Pundit is a far right hoax website and seems they left a lot out. I searched her name and found other articles that actually talked about and linked this article she wrote last year with someone else. It's not what THIS is portraying.
She authored the piece in June 2023 with Louis Reitman, a research associate at the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation. And she was a nuclear research expert at Stimson Center in DC. The piece was titled "Queering nuclear weapons: How LGBTQ+ inclusion strengthens security and reshapes disarmament."
They argue in their article that queer theory, described as "a field of study, closely related to feminist theory, that examines sex- and gender-based norms," can "help change how nuclear practitioners, experts, and the public think about nuclear weapons."
Their article went through examining how the discourse over nuclear weapons is gendered. That nuclear deterrence is associated with "rationality" and "security" but people who want disarmament and justice for nuclear weapons get called "emotional" or "Lack of understanding of mechanics of security." So what's wrong with going at it from that lens? We should completely disarm all nuclear weapons. NO ONE should have nuclear weapons. At all. And victims of nuclear weapons should absolutely have justice.
The article also focused on an excessive focus on "national security" over individual rights - which pretty sure all YOU MAGAs constantly talk about less government and protecting individual rights.
They continued: "Queer theory also identifies how the nuclear weapons discourse is gendered: Nuclear deterrence is associated with 'rationality' and 'security,' while disarmament and justice for nuclear weapon victims are coded as 'emotion' and a lack of understanding of the 'real' mechanics of security.""
I think you all are getting held up on them saying "through a queer lens" or "feminist ideologies." Their article seems to be about challenging the mainstream idea of unclear weapons, questioning whether they even deter nuclear war or stabilize geopolitics and if they reduce the likelihood of conventional war and then discussing a world without nuclear weapons.
Also reminder the US is legally obliged to pursue global nuclear disarmament under the treat of Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons signed by 190 nations, including the US, Russia and China and under STRAT treaty reducing strategic warheads to 1500 each.
Also for her:
"Her work focuses primarily on nuclear security and nonproliferation, insider threats, CBRN disinformation, emerging technologies, and domestic violent extremist threats to national security and critical infrastructure. Her portfolio captures a wide range of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear issues relating to nonproliferation and security at the state, regional, and international level. "
"She has served as a subject matter expert on issues ranging from bias in insider threat programs at nuclear facilities, to international legal norms for nuclear security, to the challenges facing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the nuclear security field, among others. Nair is also a member of the Nuclear Futures Working Group at New America and the Council for Strategic Risks’ Working Group on Climate, Nuclear, & Security Affairs."
"Nair holds an MA (Honours) in Geography and International Relations from the University of St Andrews in the United Kingdom. She speaks English and Spanish fluently. "
