DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA

1.) Arizona precincts with voting problems were not overwhelmingly Republican

Data analysis by The Washington Post undercuts claims pushed by gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and former president Donald Trump, among others

By Lenny Bronner, Isaac Stanley-Becker and Yvonne Wingett Sanchez

Updated November 13, 2022 at 9:34 p.m. EST|Published November 13, 2022 at 3:48 p.m. EST

“Starting early on Election Day, printers at 70 of the county’s 223 polling sites produced ballots with ink that was too light to be read by vote-counting machines, which caused ballots to be rejected. That forced voters to wait in line, travel to another location or deposit their ballots in secure boxes that were transferred to downtown Phoenix and counted there. County officials say no one was denied the right to vote.”

2.) Fact-check: Charlie Kirk is wrong, Maricopa County did not reduce polling places in 2022 elections

IF YOUR TIME IS SHORT

* Maricopa County, Arizona’s most populous, had 48 more voting locations in the 2022 general election than it did in the 2020 general election.

* County officials said the county increased the number of voting locations “to help reduce wait times.”

5.) In Their Own Words: Officials Refuting False Claims of Voter Fraud

Since President Trump has revived his false claims of widespread voter fraud and called for an investigation, fellow Republicans are among those refuting this allegation:

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI)

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC)

Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ)

Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT)

Senator John McCain (R-AZ)

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, a Republican

Senator John Thune (R-SD)

Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R

President of the New Hampshire Senate Chuck Morse, a Republican,

* In addition, election officials have also pushed back against this claim:

* U.S. Election Assistance Commission Chair Matthew Masterson, a Republican,

* Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, a Republican,

* Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler, a Republican,
