I read a good response on the E9 Facebook group that suggested the reason Senior NCO Leaders get relieved usually has something to do with the wallet, the zipper, or the bottle.

It made me think of all the pressures for NCOs at this level to manage the strategic priorities within multi echelon formations and develop other senior NCOs. Lately, from all the senior enlisted conferences some are just trying not to break anything and could be relived just for lack of performance.

The idea that we are promoting, or appointing to positions of great responsibility, a few of these NCOs that have such character flaws is disappointing. I have seen some assertions that each of these recent rash of reliefs were related to misappropriation of funds, DUI, and inappropriate relationships.
