APOD: 2024 August 14 – Meteors and Aurora over Germany

Good morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the August 14th edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD). In this image from Ense, Germany, we see both Space Weather and the Perseid Meteor Shower at work. Space Weather describes the variations in the space environment between the sun and Earth. In particular Space Weather describes the phenomena that impact systems and technologies in orbit and on Earth. The Aurora is a form of Space Weather. Couple that with the annual Perseid Meteor Shower, and the result is (in my opinion) a piece of art worthy of framing. Cheers.
