Santa Monica is Dangerous and the City is dying , lots of stores are out of business

From 2002 to 2004 I used to have a Girlfriend in West Los Angeles.
I frequently went to Santa Monica and walked the 3rd Street Promenade. I jogged 3 to 5 miles in and around the area. It was not anything like it is now.
Businesses are closing, crime has Tripled, and even Pee Wee Herman's Bike Shop has closed.
Is this the Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris Utopia?
It's sad to see. It reminds me of the Seattle Pike Place Market area and the surrounding disaster called Seattle Downtown.
