There is a fine line in this that no one had mentioned. An American Citizen cannot just arbitrarily marry someone and bring them into the US. That is how it has always been and that has been upheld.

The others were pursuing keeping a spouse who at one time HAD a Valid Visa and married an American Citizen to stay in country. The backlog of the State Dept is what is the problem in this case. They are so mismanaged that they cannot process Visas and Passport Applications in a timely manner.

Does that excuse them from leaving when they should have, no but it should not take months or years to get a Spouse's Visa, they are NON-Quota Visas. That is how my wife came here almost 50 years ago and it tool us about 2 weeks to get her Spouse Visa back then. (By the way she has had her US Citizenship since 1985)

Two years ago during COVID when many fewer people were traveling out of country I applied for a renewed Passport, it took 5 months to get. 12 years ago when I applied for the same thing it tool 3 weeks.
