I recall the same issue with the Nixon tapes. I believe the tapes should be released to the PUBLIC, not Congress alone.

"The DOJ and Democrats pushed back, contending that Republicans wanted the tapes solely for partisan reasons."
Dayumm Skippy it's for partisan reasons, just like everything else that happens inside the Beltway. Garland is withholding the tapes to protect Old Joe. If there's nothing to hide, why is He hiding it? An inflated opinion of His own self worth? The "I know better than you" schtick is getting really old at this point. The People aren't going to let it go on much longer.

Bureaucrats produce nothing of value. Their salaries are paid from taxes on the working people. Many of them seem to have forgotten this fact of American Government operations.

Maybe so, but what partisan reasons? Because what the Republicans are saying about the President is true? Shouldn't the people know? It's just like the letter signed by 51 "Intelligence" Community members... They opted to lie about Hunter's laptop to lead the American people to think it is Russian disinformation. And then the Democrat party, enabled by the media fought tooth and nail to prevent their assertions and the actual truth from getting out. These are serious issues to which far too many people on the left are not demanding it ends.

So they have found the head of the DoJ in Contempt of Congress. Now that will be turned over..... to...the...... DoJ....... to prosecute.

Anyone see a problem with this?

Am I saying Garland is blameless? No. But this is pure political theater which is a waste of everybody's time. Garland is not going to prosecute himself. So why was this even a thing?

The Justice Department is under Congress's microscope, and Garland has about five months to figure things out. Once Trump is back in office his minutes are numbered. Then a new Attorney General can be posted to go after him. If he's smart, he will try to resolve this quickly and completely.
