New book reveals ‘unheard’ details about D-Day invasion

So many in the Greatest Generation who returned home, did not talk about its horrors; instead they are determined to get on with their lives!

True of many families: (1) My dad's oldest brother, Ralph, at Ft. Ord in '40 (discharged after my dad, his other brother, and sister joined so he could care for their mother). (2) My dad's other brother and his sister were USAAF shown her at March Field in '43. Tom was a Ninth Air Force P-47 crew chief in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. Mary was killed in a head-on collision with an AVGAS tanker at March Field in early '45. (3) My dad, shown here at Ft. Warren, WY, in '43 before going to the Cook Islands, where he was SGM of the Aitutaki Field Hospital. While there, he was stricken with filariasis (4) and had to be medically discharged and placed on full disability in the late spring of '44. (5) My mom's brother Clifford, shown here in late '45, was captured on Wake Island on 23 Dec. '41. (6) My mom's brother-in-law was in USMC ordnance serving in amphibious tractor battalions in the Pacific from '42-'45. He stayed in for 29 years and retired as a gunny in '70 at Camp Pendleton, where he went into civil service ordnance work. He saw action in Korea and two Vietnam tours. Mom had two other brothers in the Marines in WWII, but I haven't been able to find any photos of them.

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. - My wife's uncle was killed in France while on sentry duty and her dad and uncle served during WW Two. Nine of 11 in my family serve during armed conflict.
