And folks still think ISIS is a bigger problem than home grown dumba$$es? The dumbing down of America in it's full glory. It's a damn shame; and I'm glad they were caught and no one was hurt.

SSG Warren Swan - You are correct, and the internet is no small part part of the problem. It allows these idiots to connect and form groups that would have never met with out technology. 20 years ago it took time to build a pool of fools like the nut job in Waco Texas. Tim McViegh and crew I think were kind of a one off. The Unibomber worked alone.

It also allows for the creation and distribution of memes, satire and outright false headlines that fan the flames.

SSG John Erny - ISIS is a more serious threat. They have state sponsorship and legitimate, although inadaquete, training. And people in this country are complacant and believe that ISIS can't do anything here. These homegrown idiots prove time and time again that they are too stupid to actually accomplish anything.

SSG Warren Swan - Yeah well these whackadoodles were brainwashed by Fox News and other right wing dogma spew. They put fear and paranoia into these boys' minds. I remember for months before Jade helm the rumors were flying. These home grown as you call them were positive that it was a commie plot to disarm them and propell them into servitude at Obamas whim. Inflammatory speech by "credible" news sources is unethical at best. I don't believe inciting a riot is covered by the 1st. Amendment. And by the way there are millions more like them. All itching for the real deal. To them it's their country and you know what? It is.

A 'recruiter' for a domestic group like this tried to recruit me and several cops I worked with back in the 1990's. The group turned out to be connected to the Oklahoma City bombing. They had propaganda geared toward recruiting cops, military, church members (specifically protestant church members that held post-tribulation rapture views) and others. The guy I knew (he is now deceased) traveled coast to coast with a propaganda filled station wagon meeting with small groups of people and spreading rumors about FEMA and the New World Order. I always believed he was John Doe #2 and even contacted the FBI about him. He was a Vietnam vet and had cached stolen machine guns in a coffin buried in a cemetery shortly after getting out of the service. When he dug the guns up in the 1990's, the cops thought they had a satanic cult robbing graves. My guess was that he was financed by cash from the Silent Brotherhood armored truck robberies. That money was never found and was likely spread around the country through places like Haden Lake to finance the propaganda wheel and 'training'. I always wondered what made the guy become a nut case after getting out of the military. He did tell me that he dropped a lot of acid and smoked a lot of dope while he was in the service and that may have had something to do with his paranoia. I think it takes a dedicated, charismatic person like this guy was to rope some followers and reel them in.

They were looking for people to infiltrate military facilities as far as I could tell. I didn't get involved with them and after I let the guy know I wasn't interested he was very suspicious of me. The guy bragged that one of his group had the keys to the local national guard armory and I turned that info in to investigators.

All these conspiracy theorist. If there was going to be martial law imposed by the military on such a large scale the public would not know about it until it was too late
