There are already massive amount of gun laws. Having more will not improve the evil heart of mankind.

I would invite each of those "Nearly 200" people to list exactly what "new gun law" they want the legislature to enact.
I will bet that more than half want a "new" law that is already in place.
I would also bet that the majority of requests for any law that isn't currently in place would be people saying they want an "Assault Weapons Ban" but that none of them will be able to say what an Assault Weapon is or why it should be banned beyond the "fact" that someone told them that assault weapons are deadly weapons of war that need to be banned.
Finally if anyone in the staged protest actually had an idea not covered in the two above, I would ask how their new law would accomplish something that the existing laws didn't do.
Thousands of gun laws are already on the books but somehow Just-One-More-Law is always going to solve the problem.

The population of Kansas City is over 500,000, the entire state is very close to 3 million. I wonder what the number of people protesting would be if gun ownership is restricted even more than that exists now.
