Mike Pompeo, ex-military officials provide cautious assessment of US airstrikes on Iran proxies

If you wish to dissuade the Iranian Government from their regional aggression, we need to inflict true pain upon them. We should render Kharg Island inoperable for an extended period. Now when I say inoperable, I don't mean today’s typical tit for tat destruction that essentially leaves everything at "status quo ante bellum". I mean every part of the island involved in oil export should experience true destruction in the Roman Model. Two thousand years ago those who truly offended the Roman Empire, felt the true force of that superpower. They knew then what we have forgotten today, that an attack against one of us is an attack against all of us. Their modus operandi traditionally required a level of destruction that didn't leave one stone upon another. The biggest take away is that there is no greater punishment that can be afflicted is to take the rich and powerful Iranian leadership and make them poor and powerless. The whole of the Iranian leadership has earned this reward.
