Slavery was not the cause of the Civil War, not even remotely, but this is a great myth about slevery in the United States. The Civil War was solely caused by the fact that the South had an economy based on the growing and harvesting if cotton, but the South lacked any means (in the entire South) to process that cotton into thread, and lack the ability to certainly make cloth on an industrial level. What the Plantation in the Cotton Belt did was ship the bales of cotton to New England, where there WAS the induction ability to take the raw cotton, process it into thread, dye the thread, and then weave it into cloth, why then then got shipped to Europe to be sold. IF the South had thought out the matter, they woudl have build thread and fabric mills in all the major port cities. Also, the South lacked the ability to forge rail for their railroads (hence the Sherman Bowties), and then there was the matter that at no place in the South were rifles, muskets, pistols, and bayonets could be Ade in anything more then a few rifles or pistols per week, and certainly not enough the arm up the entire CSA (Confederate States of America). The South did have storage depots of the weapons the US. Army owned, along with canon and powder, but early in the dispute before the war kicked off, the Army send in teams to relocate/hide a great percentage of the Army owned arms, so that they did not fall into CSA hands, and where the Union Army could find the hidden arms and powder as they fought in what everybody knew would be a near term conflict... over COTTON, not slavery. The Emancipation Proclamation did not in any way make slavery illegal, and it in no way released the slaves, but rather Lincoln came up with a mechanism of economic warfare, they slave who escaped to the North would more or less become slaves to the Union Army, and they were forced with whips and nooses to fight for the Union against the South. The Proclamation merely announced ecumenic warfare.
The 13th Amendment outlawed certain types of slavery, but allowed other kinds of slavery to remain intact, and indeed slavery is STILL legal in the United States. Bu the 13th Ammednment was ratified on December 6, 1865
The Emancipation Proclamation was announced as an "Executive Order" by Lincoln on January 1, 1863, which set slave free in the CSA, but as the CSA was in a state of rebellion, all he did was give them shelter once they reached the Union, it did nto send the Union Army into the South to free a single slave. The Union Army, did seize slave in the South, and impressed them into the Union Army as slave, against presidential order. The only way a fourth slave was freed, it to reach stable Northern cities, and evade contact with the Union Armies.
On July 9, 1868 the 14th Amendment became law, which was vital as the civil authors int he South kicked Slavery 2.0 as Union Troops withdraw, forcing the President to send in Union Troops against, but this time to round up and execute hundreds of state and Country judges who were reinstating slavery and harassing and murdinering newly freed black slaves. Not only did the Ary go to judges homes in the middle of the night and rage the judges right out of the beds, and executive them in a summary process the next day, they also went after country deputies and sheriffs who the Army Brought up of Court Martial charges and hung right next the the judges.
Sebver Union officers recognized that there woudl continue to be unending of the newly freed black slaves, so long as the blacks lacked weapons sufficed to defend themselves and their families, so those officer forms the National Rifle Association, and through the NRA they gifted guns and ammunition to thee newly freed blacks, and conducted training, as most of them had never been allowed to touch guns or ammunition. The sis a little uncomfortable fact that liberals ted to ignore (that the only reason the blacks after the Civil War were not re-slaved, was because of the tens of thousands of firearms the NRA took to the South and gave the freed slaves.
But, it was all about cotton, not about slavery.
