The Army wants to see more ‘creativity’ from special operations forces

In the meantime, they are cutting the manpower and budget of the special forces...

I'm not so sure what I think of this- first I think if anyone, it's the special forces upper echekons that need to do the planning, and second, I know from experience that these guys are among the most creative in the military already- what do they want them to do, save the world? ...As if they would actually keep politics out of it and let them complete the objective...I say yeah, right...

Main point of this response: Nothing in the article specifies the Army wants to see more ‘creativity’ from special operations forces! Brigadier General Ferguson, the new Commander of the 1st Special Forces Command stated that "The side that applies new technology with the most creativity and audacity wins." If you read it different, re-read the article. It is more about force structure and syncronization and integration of special operations. Truthfully, the article is really about nothing - it's just a generic interview (with an overly dramatic headline) by an Army Times reporter.

By the way, BG Ferguson is the commander of the 1st Special Forces Command. A division-level special operations forces command "within" the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM). The SOCOM commander has four stars which is a tad bit higer than the BG one star! If the interview was with General Fenton, I don't think he would have said anything about needing "more"creativity in his organization.
