3249 Lancaster bombers were lost in action. 7377 were built. I am not sure how many are missing with its cruise. At least these recovered airmen will finally get a proper burial. RIP !!

Amazing that anything remained, let alone could be recovered. RIP fellow bomber crewmembers.

My Granny's first cousin was shot down and killed in a Lancaster in April 1945. My mother, who was six at the time, remembers the letter home.
