Interesting. Simple HF communications on earth have time lags so I can only imagine the issues involved in communicating with Mars.

Communications will be an interesting thing at that distance. Back to the familygram days on the boat.

Remember fiber optics being used for civilian communication?? Guess what Nasa and motorola may have come up with to communicate in space between Earth and the Astronauts. If not that, then using the capsule as a transponder/ signal booster / capacitor ??

Distance is the major factor in space given the distances when Earth and Mars are at opposite points from the sun. Can't use fiber optics for the distances between celestial objects... Between Earth and the Moon, there isn't that a significant issue...

Sgt (Join to see) could satellites be positioned geosynchratic to do a line of sight restrengthening and passing of the com on to the next satellite , and then to Mars?
