The fate of Army Special Operations Forces

We spend WAAAAAAAY too much money we don't have. Budget cuts are needed. Everywhere.

We currently spend more on defense than the next 10 nations combined. Only 2 of those 10 are enemies.

Cut more! Cut a LOT more!

I have to disagree. It is more about re-allocating resources to fund the re-armament the Regular forces to fight a near peer battle instead of a bunch of goat herders. We have spent that last 20+ years expanding the number and mission of Special Operations and we are finally recognizing that while SOCOM is a valuable asset, it doesn't win high intensity wars with opponents that have large convention forces. The best trained and equipped military this country has seen since WWII is during Desert Storm. That Army was forgotten in the aftermath of Desert Storm and the fall of the Soviet Union.
