When I married Carol in '98, I moved to Pacific County, WA, where I was active in the VFW and helped raise the funds for the monument carved from cedar on display in Robert Bush Memorial Park on U.S. 101 in South Bend. We dedicated the monument in '99 shortly before we moved to Hawaii. Here's a photo of Bob standing next to the monument, which depicts him holding a bottle of plasma in one hand and a .45 pistol in the other as he treats his platoon leader on Okinawa. Bob was the youngest sailor awarded the MoH in WWII at 19.
