I have a friend who is a gymnastics coach. You can literally reduce her to babbling just by saying Simone Biles' name.
I am not a gymnastics guy. At all. I can admire the beauty of it, but for me it is like ice skating. There is no difference between a double axle and a triple salchow. It's just pretty stuff. The technical points are wasted on me.
But I *do* listen. And it appears to be a pretty much unanimous consensus that this woman is not just a generational talent, he is a centurial talent. A talent so truly remarkable that she is literally redefining the sport and remaking it in her image. She is the forward pass in football. The three point line in basketball. The art of the flop in soccer.
To my unlearned eye, she is just another gymanst who is very good at what she does and has beautiful routines (and, yes, they *are* beuatiful). But I accept that I am unlearned. And proud to have this woman who the learned people say is the best *ever* represent my country.
Good job, Simone. Keep going, keep striving, keep representing.
