This may be a little bit off topic. I was doing research on the F-35 when we were doing our cgsoc portion concerning Logistics and procurement. I read up at this jet was pre-approved by president George W bush after 9/11 even though it was still in the Prototype phase. They had problems with it in production and they can't making modifications. I remember reading issues about the engine being underpowered and that cracks would form in the turbine when pushed to 105% of Maximum thrust. So we can't blame democrats for this plane being such a problem. I know the B-29 bomber was the big issue in World War II with cost overruns but that plane ended up being pretty reliable but it's not the same kind of aircraft and not put the same kind of G-Force. Still, other Pilots have said that the F-16 could beat it in a dog fight even though it's not designed to be in a dog fight. The designer of the A-10 Warthog in the F-16 said that the F-35 is not suited for dog fighting

CSM Charles Hayden it's too bad they didn't continue production of the F-22 or make a new production of a modified upgraded F-22 fighter but it's too damn expensive!

Apparently, the airframe could not handle anything beyond a sustained Mach 1.3. or something similar to that. I don't remember if it was fixable. I am inclined to believe it is a fundamental flaw. It's quite slow for such an expensive fighter.

MAJ Ken Landgren I still call it the Junk strike fighter. It's communication technology is so advanced that it cannot talk to planes like the F16. But you have a global Hawk that can allow them to communicate between each other. we should have these aircraft fly in hunter or killer groups because the F35 cannot dog fight. Some people say that dog fighting is a thing of the past but I disagree.

LTC (Join to see) - I am stunned how slow it is considering the price tag. The US Military conducted a contest between the A-10 and the F-35. Apparently the A-10 was given the same number of rounds as the F-35, and the F-35 was given the same loiter time. I think I read this in Army Times.
