Right now, they only have to project power about 150 miles. It's not a stretch of imagination to think of China throwing numerous undermanned ships at a US Navy task force to disrupt our offensive operations on and around Taiwan.
Of course, I believe the current president would allow China to invade Taiwan unopposed. Just my opinion but Biden's not exactly unwavering in his support of the island nation.
