Some crews and ships are just destined to be the 'Bad or Hard Luck' of the battle group. But this ship had no luck at all

It looks like the Captain's career did survive his time ATAD (after torpedo and depth charge). His time as captain ended with the attempted accidentally assassination, but somehow he retired as a Rear Admiral.
