As a lay person, I see this lawsuit similar to the one against Ford over flammable Pintos during 1980s. Issue is that car company may be responsible if they don't take precautions with products.

Car and crash safety is in no way comparable to anti-theft measures. Every make and model of cars has been stolen in this country. Yet, the city isn't suing the other car manufacturers.
