"In the last decade, some distillers making traditional American style whiskeys, such as bourbon and rye, have adopted peat. They substitute peated malt for some or all of the usual amount in their bourbon or rye mash bill1. Peated American whiskeys include American Oak and Peated releases, which are aged a minimum of 3 years and bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration or added coloring2. American Single Malt Whiskey Peated Malt is only lightly peated and is distilled using the same slow methods as New American single malt before resting in virgin American Oak barrels3."...
