I have said it before and I will say it again. The NCO is the single greatest difference between the US Military and anyone else. From our very beginning, the institution of an NCO Corps that handles small unit leadership, training, and discipline have created a uniquely effective military.
Even when we were outgunned, out-moneyed, out-allied, out-manned, and out-maneuvered, our NCO Corps made the difference. And has continued to do so, since.
BUT...
Other nations have learned, especially our allies. If we want to CONTINUE to have the premier fighting force, we need to continue to develop the NCO Corps.
