Space Command HQ staying in Colorado, as Biden reverses Trump decision - Breaking Defense

Mac...I wholeheartedly agree. Event hough it was a political decison I think it was the right thing. We have been running Cyber and Space ops out of Colorado since we have had space ops. It was Space/Missile Command prior to it becoming Space Force. Infrastructure, logistics, all the background stuff is in place. To pick it up and move it to Huntsville is not a fiscally responsible nor just an overall smart move.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - They all tend to be political decisions, but sometimes the politicians actually listen to the military advisors too. The priority should be, what makes the best sense militarily, and then look at how to articulate in politically.
AL made no sense and I have no idea if Trump took a major part in the decision (as he claims), whether it was to punish CO, or to please AL. On the political side he should understand that CO Springs is very conservative, taking a command which has been there since its inception was NOT a smart political decision, much less a smart military one. I have not only worked within Building One (formerly the AFSPC HQ), but I have been a part of AFSPC, NORTHCOM, and USSF (and even US Space Command) cyber defense strategies for a long time before I left the DoD. I know Peterson and the surrounding sites very well, the missions and the capabilities (both Space and Missiles) and how cyber supports them all. I actually helped them conceive and implement the ideas on how to build their cyber forces, but to also aggregate cyber defense analytics for improved cyber situational awareness, intelligence, and information sharing.
