Long before far-right and white supremacist groups like the Patriot Front and the Washington State Three Percenters became household names, the Pacific Northwest was home to other extremist groups.
As a reporter in Portland in the late '90s, KUOW Morning Edition host Angela King covered far-right extremist organizations like the Aryan Nation.
Since then, white nationalist, neo-Nazi, and militia groups have found new ways to recruit followers, and spread their views. And the rise of extremist groups has left a lot of questions for journalists like Angela about how to best to cover them, and the Pacific Northwest’s role in allowing these groups to flourish.
Recently, she interviewed another journalist who’s covered the rise of far-right extremist groups. Dave Neiwert is the author of “The Age of Insurrection: The Radical Right’s Assault on American Democracy.”
"Soundside" host Libby Denkmann caught up with King to talk about the takeaways from her conversation with Neiwert, and how his experience covering extremist groups compares to her own.

None of them have the enrollment that Antifa does in the very same area. Call them out too, if you're going to talk extremist groups.

SFC John Davis I guess it really must have been the goldurn right wingers who tore up Portland for 100 straight nights.
As for the 'white power' crap. I can't recall but maybe 5 incidents over a 30 period in Oregon. If I recall correctly all incidents had prosecutions.

LTC Trent Klug - The left only sees Democracy as a way to keep them in positions of power. They care nothing for the founding, and the constitution and bill of rights are antiquated and in need up modernization. History of now, unless there is something in our history that they can use as a wedge. They think they are so clever, but their arguments always start and end the same way, with the same topics.
None of that is supportive of a Republican form of Government. They will stop at nothing to end this experiment and implement their new and "improved" version of socialism because it makes them feel good.

In the '90's I lived in northeastern Washington, about 50 miles from the Aryan Nation compound at Hayden Lake, ID. While working at Brock's Gunsmithing in Spokane, I came in contact with a number of their members. Most of the gun work they wanted done, Brock would not do. He said the same to Randy Weaver when Weaver wanted him to cut down some shotguns and other illegal modifications.

I don't blame that store owner at all. If I owned a gun store and somebody wanted me to make a firearm illegal in any way I would shoiw them the door as well.
