The Army experienced the highest increase in suicides, where 49 service members died by suicide in the first three months of 2023, compared to 37 service members a year ago. This comes as the service still waits for its suicide prevention regulation . . .

I tried to post that last night specifically The Army suicide. There are several factors affecting this, including no defined purpose and no sense of community, often they feel isolated and alone, with memories people around them cannot fathom. A sense of honor and pride with purpose is lacking. Recruiting is trying to sell the benefits but they no longer seem enticing when McDonakds and Starbucks are promising pay and a gateway to higher education. SPC Jeff Daley, PhD

Sobriety saves Lives.
I knew a full bird colonel who also worked in the DEA. This Army Reserve Colonel told me his coworker met with others after work at a bar and said he was frustrated with his job. After some drinks, went home and shot himself.
The story isn't say this but alcohol has been a factor in Stellar officers killing themselves.

A sad situation. Some turn to alcohol or drugs as a remedy for their depression but unfortunately this can call deeper depression. Reaching our for help is not a sign of weakness - It's a sign of strength. We need to reach out to help if we recognize the symptoms. LTC (Join to see)

SPC Jeff Daley, PhD yes, especially with AA that we admit that were helpless. Admitting we have a problem to begin with is the first step towards sobriety. Many senior members of the military think they are too good to go seek Mental Health therapy.

Sadly, the services have to get a handle on this, but I'm not sure how. We are not at war and haven't been for a while. So why are our men and women killing themselves. I fear there is no one stock answer.
