Weather is usually cyclical. Issue is pattern of record breaking extremities.

LTC Eugene Chu - Take the time to review the averages since weather record-keeping began in 1869. Current studies take a look at a segment of time that produced the so call extremities that are going to end the world. Once you have reviewed the history of the weather check to see if there are any similarities in the longer timeline. In those similar or worse cases did the world end in seven years like so many forecasted?

LTC Eugene Chu - yes sir, and in the 1800's, they had a time period they called, "The year without summer," and a winter that was horrific. I believe that was due to volcanic actividies - something we've seen quite a bit of lately as well. The ash clouds affect how well the earth heats, or not and in the not distant past, we've seen major eruptions in Indonesia, the Hawaiian Islands and elsewhere.
Of prime concern to (real) scientists right now, is Yellowstone and the magma fields. With record steam venting (not just Old Faithful), the consensus is there is a pending eruption of cataclysmic levels.
This video by the Smithsonian, explains it well.
