The original Cleopatra was Macedonian Greek. Maybe Elizabeth Taylor was too Fair complected to be Macedonian Greek, but Greek and Roman historians would have said if Cleopatra were African. It's amazing how activist people try to change history. Ancient historians would have noted the looks of Cleopatra especially since Roman General Mark Anthony was one of her lovers.
When I was in Western Afghanistan, I remember the Final Approach to landing at my base (Provincial Reconstruction Team Farah in Farah City, Farah Province, Western Afghanistan) and there was a Macedonian fort that was built by the Generals of Alexander the Great and it had pillars on the corners. It was used even by the Russians during the occupation of Afghanistan.
The Empire of Alexander the Great extended from Anatolia, Syria, Phoenicia, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia, Afghanistan, and India. I guess the new Cleopatra modern activists of today are not very good historians.
Maybe these are the same activists from the 1619 project that said that the 13 colonies broke away from England because England was going to outlaw slavery even though it wasn't outlawed until 1833.
Even though the 1963 Cleopatra was a failure because they spent too much, I think the modern Cleopatra failed because of the bad publicity that it deserved.
There were other Queens of Egypt who probably were African in descent. Nobody questions that. Problem with this Netflix movie is to totally changing history is not a form of 'equity' like hypocritical leftists always pretend to care about.
