Just so no one takes this the wrong way, read what I am saying. It is important we quit talking about firsts based on sex, race, creed. We should only make judgments based on qualifications. The rest of the nonsense doesn't matter. If candidates have the qualifications to lead troops, fly an F-22 or land on the moon, then sex, race etc. should not be considered. Congratulations on the promotion to our new Command Sgt.Major. May you serve your country with honor, loyalty, integrity and the competence we desperately need. We are counting on you to lead based on your abilities. Have a stellar tour of duty.

Sgt John H. It's all about PR . We had Oregon's first black female battalion commander, which was a big deal, who turned out to be a nightmare. She stole battalion property, forged the G3's signature on a request for orders to Iraq, showed up in Iraq on that request, got caught. Then the fun really began. The investigation revealed a phony degree meaning she should have never been commissioned. She got jail time.
