This unit is one of three that are the subject of the book I'm currently working on. I've tentatively titled it: Ebony and Iron: The Army's Black Tank Battalions in WWII. I'm currently seeking a publisher and hope to finish the first draft this year.

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. I read and enjoyed Kareem Abdul Jabbar's 'Brothers in Arms: The Epic Story of the 761st Tank Battalion, WWII's Forgotten Heroes' -- I look forward to your take.

CSM Chuck Stafford - In examining the performance of all three of the black tank battalions my purpose is to show how the Army War College's 1920s report on the performance of black regiments in WWI COULD have served as a model for how best to use black troops in future wars.

Had that report been heeded, much pain and suffering could have been spared and the entire nation would have benefited. . . .

Lt Col Charlie Brown I had basic at Knox (Oct-Dec 1979, D-19-4)
On family day we were aloud to go around post if we had no family coming, but we had to be in dress greens. a few of us got a couple on post taxies and went to the museum. It was something to see. I heard that most of it was sent down to Benning.

I did. I was able to use some of the material they had archived there. I also had access to Patton's personal papers in the Library of Congress.
