I don't think she was so drunk she couldn't remember ... she was desperately trying to not get into trouble and admit she did wrong.

Drunk drivers are a scourge. I don't care what your political ideology is ... if you get behind the wheel of a car, you deserve to have the book thrown at you (some of you may recall why 'drunk driving' is my red line). You absolutely shouldn't be in a position of authority because your decision making has been proving to be lacking.

Some view it as "nothing big" and "a mistake that you should be able to recover from". My view is that it's pure luck you didn't kill a pregnant mother driving a van full of nuns to bingo.

Looking at Connecticut's DUI laws, they appear lax - 1st conviction (assuming she's not some drunk that has run afoul of the police before) is a 45 day suspension (max) and the installation of an ignition interlock device (i.e., breath in a tube before the car will start). Way too easy in my book.

I'm not a big fan of these types of headlines. The fact that she's a lawmaker, probably relevant. That she is a democrat, not relevant, unless someone is trying to claim that democrats are in favor of drunk driving. I don't buy it.
