Gifford center won't be happy till everyone has turned in their firearms IMHO.

You could buy a gun and... and... HAVE IT!!!! The horror!!!!

The age old saying that "you can't have your cake and eat it, too" comes to mind. The way we say it today makes no sense - If I have cake, why the heck can't I eat it? The original aphorism is "you can't EAT your cake and HAVE it, too." Which makes way more sense - once it has been eaten, you no longer have it.

But here, Giffords is complaining about people buying guns and having them, too. Which is patently absurd. Why the hell should someone NOT be able to carry a firearm they just purchased? What would be the point of purchasing a firearm you CAN'T carry?

Am I advocating for a cinematic old west where 90% adult males has a gun on their hip (doctors, lawyers, and preachers are usually exempt from this requirement, it seems) - and 40% of women, too? No, I am not.

But I wouldn't be opposed.
