Education is supposed to expose one to all sorts of viewpoints. Apparently not in Wisconsin though.

Education WAS supposed to educate. Today, in America (and most of the world) "education" is primarily to indoctrinate -- that shift has been going on for over fifty years.
Exposing students of "all sorts of viewpoints" IS a good thing -- but that exposure needs to be appropriate to the age and maturity level of those students. If students are not ready to comprehend and intelligently discuss a topic, simply shoving one side of the topic at them isn't 'exposure' it is indoctrination.
Let's put it on a direct level -- would YOU have supported your children in first grade being taught to sing "What Are You Fighting For", "Eve of Destruction", or "Four Dead In Ohio" for their school concert?

MSG Thomas Currie Why not? Odds are that my kids heard and sang along with Eve of Distruction blaring from the stereo long before first grade. My kids learned early they don't live in a bubble and that things neither I nor they may like happen. If you like it embrace it, if you don't like it avoid it, but don't deny others the opportunity to do whatever "It" may be.

Good for the Wisconsin School IMHO..., Chip. Children in the first grade should not be subject to this type of music... I like Dolly Parton, but Miley not so much... And this whole LGBTQ thingamabob is antithetical to humanity...

The problem is if those kids wanted to perform it they've already been subjected to this type of music. Anticipation is a great way to teach kids, disappointing them not necessarily so.
