I'm hesitant to lay all this at Biden's feet (correlation vs causation thing), but there is obviously something that has happened during his term in office that is causing this. After effects of the isolation that happened during COVID? Policy changes in the military?
I absolutely agree with the line in the article, "That said, there are certain factors we can point to which, at the very least, aren’t helping the situation at all. At worst they might be contributing."
If this is a serious problem, then treat it like a serious problem. I know that there are many resources available, periodic briefings given, and speeches made about the importance of this, but where's the level of scrutiny given to suicides as was given to COVID? Both are serious, but suicided in the military was over 500 in CY21 while to date, COVID deaths for service members sits at 96.
More needs to be done.

I do resiliency work for Service to the Armed Forces. We reach only a very small percentage of the force. Those we do find it really helpful according to surveys...and we've actually had people send us comments like: you convinced me not to give my spouse divorce papers (I had no idea- we never talked about that) and I was thinking of killing myself but now I see, that's not a solution...
The military claims to have resiliency sessions but they are a slide deck with a person for whom it is an additional duty...useless and that's what the troops say

Try as I might I can't imagine a reason to kill myself. I've been through 'some stuff' but that never occurred to me. Capping a few other people? "Yes", however it never got past the detailed planning stage (that was my dark humor/sarcasm, folks). I just can't put myself in those shoes and though I feel grief when it happens my questions is always, "Why?"
Those are some of the shadows that lay across my soul.
