With the end of Amazon's charity donation program, AmazonSmile, some people feel worse about shopping on Amazon and are looking for ways to shop more ethically.
Through AmazonSmile, which is ending by Feb. 20, Amazon donates 0.5% of eligible purchases to a charity of the shopper's choice. The program has donated over $449 million globally, but the average donation per charity last year was around just $230, according to Amazon.

I am not happy they ended the program. It still boggles my mind how such wealthy people can work with such vast amounts of money and in their "charity" see things so differently from the common man, such as myself. Was it really costing the company that much to have this thing running? What is a few, even a few hundred, million dollars to a multi-billion dollar company? But whatever, it wasn't getting enough publicity for the brand, or it's cost-to-return wasn't growing the overall portfolio, or Bezos has a new $500 million idea for a charity ball and they're going to shuffle this program into that...
