Good Red Friday afternoon, Rallypoint, and welcome to the December 30th edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD): "Mars and the Star Clusters." As it roams through the constellation Taurus, Mars looks down on us for most of the night. If you have a clear evening (and are in the Northern Hemisphere), look south and up. Mars won't be too far from where it was captured in this December 22nd composite photo. On the left is the alpha star of Taurus (Aldebaran) and the Hyades star cluster. On the right is the Pleiades star cluster. The apex of the triangle will be Mars.
