If only these warnings would have surfaced before covid, more folks would have already been dubious, and more prepared. A common world threat is what was used to scare folks into a panic and be "crisis managed". I suppose a world pandemic was actually more realistic and doable as a vehicle than an alien invasion threat - so the villainous could get the ball rolling with the nefarious plans - individual and competing, yet collective as well.
