The barracks shown in this movie were built before the Pearl Harbor attack. In 2011, I was in Civil Affairs Exercise that was held at Fort Shafter and at Schofield Barracks.
I have walked by these Barracks that are being defended by the soldiers in the movie. They were the actual barracks that had bullet holes in them from the Japanese attack.
When I went there in 2011, elements of the 25th Infantry Division active duty soldiers we're living in them and they don't look too much different from December 7th, 1941.

Love the story, love the movie! James Jones served with the 27th Infantry regiment, 25th ID before and during WW2.

The view from Kolekole pass is amazing...the patches on the airfield at Wheeler are still visible as well as the bullet holes from the strafing runs on the hangers where we kept our UAVs

Great movie. Wife and I went on sort of a second honeymoon to Hawaii in 1970. Stayed at the VOQ for a few nights until we could get a cabin at Bellows Recreation Center, and the exterior walls of the VOQ had several bullet holes from the attack.
