I'm sure some other sites will post a story with the headlines, "Racist PTSD vet aims gun at blameless kid and holds him hostage"

SGT Jim Arnold
COL Randall C. - A little girl leaning into a lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.
A biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.
Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event. The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and bravest thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.
The Harley rider replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right.'
The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page. So, what do you do for a living, and what political affiliation do you have?
The biker replies, "I'm a U.S. Marine, a Republican and I voted for Trump".
The journalist leaves.
The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads on the front page:
** U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT & STEALS HIS LUNCH. **
And THAT pretty much sums up the media's approach to the news these days.

MSG Thomas Currie - I'd say that any armed trespasser, who when apprehended was reaching for the gun that he carried, could justifiably be subject to deadly force by a lawful manager of that property.

CW3 Harvey K. - Walking through a parking lot in front of a business isn't trespassing. Are YOU an "armed trespasser" every time you set foot in a parking lot or a business?
Shelley wasn't "reaching for the gun" until AFTER Joyner threatened him with a gun.
Bottom line: On JUST the facts presented in that story, Joyner committed Assault with a Deadly Weapon when he used a gun to threaten a person who was not any immediate threat to him or anyone else.

MSG Thomas Currie - Was the "business" open to the public? No, it was not. You can't just walk around a Walmart's property before they open for the day, if they don't want to let you do that.
Shelley did his "reaching for the gun" AFTER "sort of" obeying Joyner's commands, but was moving his hand toward his gun. Shelly was lawfully "apprehended" as an ARMED trespasser by Joyner. Any violation of law, committed while armed, is made more serious by that fact of being armed.
Bottom line: On JUST the facts presented, Shelly committed ARMED trespass, and was rightfully apprehended by the manager of the property, who had prudently armed himself. If Shelley made any further movement toward his gun, he could deservedly be shot.
I'm sure the defense lawyer would want you on Shelly's jury, not me. There will be no trial of Joyner.
