I'm not in the same category nor saw as much on the ground combat as BG Roosevelt, but I thought about and was inspired by him when I deployed for OIF at the age of 55 in 2006-2007 as an Army Reservist Civil Affairs Officer. I obviously survived one of my best deployments of my life to tell the tale.

Sometimes you only need 3 months of combat pay to realize you'll never be the same again. I can't imagine how the younger generation spent 18 months at a time under fire. God Bless them.
